NEXT EVENT: Thursday, September 25, 2008 3:30 pm RushHour Karting in Garner, NC
The RAPS Public Safety Endurance Kart Race is an inter-agency kart racing challenge designed to bring public safety professionals together in a fun, team-building atmosphere. But make no mistake about it. The “RAPS Race” is intense and competitive, and it is 100% motor racing fun for anyone associated with public safety.
Any and all public safety agencies are invited to enter a team of 4 drivers to compete in this 90-minute race. We require that at least 3 of the 4 drivers be members of the agency represented. Any other driver must have a pre-existing relationship with the agency or one of the first 3 members of the team (friend, family, former agency member, etc.).
The entry fee is just $150 per team. There will be a qualifying session to determine starting order in the race. During the race, the pits open every 10 minutes to swap drivers. Each member must drive in sequential order. Teammates work together to swap drivers as quickly and safely as possible. The top 3 finishing teams will win trophies and some pretty serious bragging rights. The last place team wins the notorious “Slow Cup.”
To Enter, please contact us. No payment due now.
Several teams from the first 3 RAPS Races have some scores to settle. Both the Wake SO team and the Raleigh PD team are poised to claim their first win, which is well within their grasps. The Raleigh FD team will be looking to put their name back on top where they handily placed it during the first event in January 2007. The Wake EMS team enjoyed becoming the first back-to-back winners after their victory in the January 2008 event. There are a number of teams who considered the first events mere practice sessions, and they threaten to establish themselves as RAPS powerhouses at the next race.
You don’t have to have any experience driving karts to be a part of this. You don’t have to have any racing experience, or even any special skills or training at all. The only things you need are a driver’s license and the will to compete with other members of public safety. See our RAPS Practice page for more information on a little “off season training.”
