2010 / 2011 League Registration is Open

See Registration Instructions at the bottom of the page

The RAPS Youth Racing League is for any and all children ages 8-14 who are interested in participating. Drivers are placed in classifications based on age, experience, and ability.

The RAPS Youth League is currently in the off-season (i.e April to September). During the off-season youth kart handling classes (see schedule below) are offered for new drivers and RAPS Practice Days are offered to active drivers. If you are an active RAPS driver and would like the schedule of RAPS practice sessions, please contact Chris Colangelo.

So we can make sure we have enough instructors and officials for each event, pre-registration is required for all RAPS events.

The 2010/2011 Winter league is planned to be held on Sundays from 09:00am - 2:00pm. The league will consist of 8 points races, 2 optional practices, and an endurance race. Drivers interested in racing in the RHP classification for the first time must attend a try-out session. To schedule a try-out session, contact either Chris Colangelo or Jeff Hammerstein.

Race Day Format: Drivers run 1 warm-up heat, then 1 qualifying heat. Qualifying lap times determine starting positions for the final 15 minute race. Drivers compete within their class, including the final 15 minute heat. On some occasions, however, drivers may compete in mixed class events.

Drivers earn championship points based on their finish in the final heat. Points go towards a season championship.

All interested youth are welcome regardless of experience.

PREREQUISITE: Participants must have had the RushHour Kart Handling Course, or they must take the RAPS Youth Prep Course. RAPS Youth Prep Courses last from 9:00 am to noon. Class space is limited, so drivers must pre-register for the class.

All drivers must attend a pre-season practice on September 26th. RHP Drivers need to attend practice from 9:00 am to 11: 00 am. GT Drivers need to attend practice from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. During this practice drivers will learn race day procedures and format. There is no charge for the pre-season practice.

During the league competitions, racers should anticipate and be capable of racing for thirty minutes over the duration of the race day.

    Fee schedule:

RAPS Youth Prep Course (Required Course) $99

Per Season Registration Fee $50 (Discounted to $40 for registrations received by September 19th)

    Weekly events $35 per event

The RAPS Youth League races the RushHour track in both directions. Since drivers only get the opportunity to drive the reverse direction during the league, RAPS is offering an optional prep course focused on the reverse direction of the track as well as advanced racing techniques.

Reverse Track Prep Course (Optional Course) $75

If you’ve already had the RushHour kart handling course and do not wish to participate in the optional reverse track prep course, the total is only $435. You may pay the total up front, or you may pay the $35 per event charge as you go.

2010/2011 League Registration begins on August 1st, 2010

To register for the RAPS Youth Racing League, print and complete the Youth League Registration Form and submit with your registration fee. (Please pay by check made out to RAPS Racing League)
